Dequindre Cut Ride Video
After recently experimenting with a custom handlebar camera mount, I took some sample video along the soon-to-be-officially-opened Dequindre Cut trail in Detroit. Yes, the video is a little jittery, which was due in part to the stiffer ride of my road bike. Future trials will be from a mountain bike.

Hey, excellent! I really want to ride this today. Where do we get on? Perhaps good directions from WSU area?

AHHH!! How exciting. 🙂 Too bad it’s only 1.3 miles, hopefully they expand it sooner rather than later.

I think it will be expanded sooner than later for a few reasons. First, the plans to expand are already underway. Second, there may be fewer unknowns in the expansion since much has been discovered while building this first phase. And lastly, there will likely be more demand for the expansion since folks will be using this existing segment and wanting more.

Great video and great trail! When we rode the Riverwalk a couple weeks ago, it was not obvious where they’ll tie into this trail. What are they doing at the southern end to connect it to the Riverwalk Trail?

Right now the connection will only be to Woodbridge. You can ride the roads to the Riverwalk. The City of Detroit owns the property between the Dequindre Cut and Tri-Centennial Park/Riverwalk. They are converting this land into a trail and park.
